Effective of 6th March 2022, Solat Dhuha 2021 app has been deprecated and it is replaced with a new app, called Solat Dhuha 2022.
This means you will no longer receive any new update for the old app and we ask all users to uninstall the old app and install the new Solat Dhuha 2022 app.
WHAT'S NEW IN SOLAT DHUHA 2022?
The new Solat Dhuha 2022 app will provide:
- Support for Android 5.0 Lolipop (API 21) up to the latest Android 12 Snow Cone (API 32)
- Enhanced User Interface (UI)
- Ease of page navigation. The next and previous button has been removed and replaced with swipe features
- Ability to toggle on & off the translation & transliteration on every Arabic text, dua or Quranic verses
Since we code this 100% on our own, we will have greater flexibility to enhance the app in the future.
BACKGROUND OF SOLAT DHUHA APP
Downloads & Installed Users
Since Solat Dhuha app was rollout back in 20th August 2020, it has a total download of 4182 and currently we have 1339 active users in the last 30 days. This is a big number in a short period of time, and we are grateful for the support shown by all of you.
User by Country
On majority, our app users comes from Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore and Brunei. There are also a few users from other countries such as Saudi Arabia, UAE, Tanzania and more.
Store Listing Conversion Rate
The existing Solat Dhuha app has a high store listing conversion rate of 45% which is beyond our peers median rate of 19%. That means almost every 1 out of 2 users who searched Solat Dhuha at Google Play chooses to download our app instead of other app. That contributes to our consistent Ranking of Number 1 in the search result.
Software Development Kit (SDK) Used
This app was initially coded in HTML, CSS & Javascript and then built using Andromo app builder which comes at a steep cost which we have to maintain each year.
Previously Andromo V2 only supports Android. However since mid of 2021, Andromo has migrated to a new app builder called V3 which is based on Flutter.
Flutter is a cross-platform SDK which enables the developer to code once and deploy for both Android and iOS. This will extremely help in reducing time & cost to roll out the app for both platform. However to enjoy the benefit of the new V3 builder, we have to re-create the existing Solat Dhuha app in the new V3 builder.
After so much consideration, we decided on:
- Not renewing our subscription with Andromo as this requires lifetime subscription even if we didn’t update the app
- We want to keep this app free hence we need to keep our maintenance cost low.
- We want a greater flexibility to build the app on our own and add more features to the app
Fret not, we have launched a new version of the app, called Solat Dhuha 2022, which we proudly code using Flutter & built it 100% on our own.
WHY DO YOU NEED TO INSTALL THE NEW APP?
We are unable to update the existing Solat Dhuha app since existing app uses Andromo signature and Google Play will only recognize app signed by Andromo for new updates.
Since we’ve stopped using Andromo, we can no longer use Andromo signature. Hence the reason we have to deploy new app using our own signature. That is why we need you to install the new app.
WHAT YOU NEED TO DO?
1. Locate the existing Solat Dhuha app in your phone.
2. Long press on the icon, click Uninstall
- Old app only supports up to Android 10 Quince Tart (API 29)
- There will be no more update performed for the old app effective on 6 March 2022
- The old app has been removed from Google Playand you will no longer be able to download the old version on new device
- We keep the app free by running ads on our app. If you keep the old app, that means you are not helping us to reduce our maintenance cost which means we might not be able to keep our app FREE
